I sent a call for proposals to friends and acquaintances in the New York City area. I asked them to propose an outing we could go on during a Saturday in October 2009. The selected applicants would be picked up and dropped off by the Iron Maiden and me. The proposals could go anywhere and do anything within Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, or Staten Island—be adventurous, visit places we'd never been before, learn about local haunts, explore with a mission, scout locations, create your own art project. Proposals were reviewed based on their inventiveness and potential for new experiences, learning, and fun.
